Homemade Pizza

Last night I made my very first homemade pizza. I even made the dough! I was so excited because I love cooking/baking and it was my first time to use yeast.

I used Pioneer Woman's recipe for pizza crust, after being recommended by a friend.

I put just a little marinara, pepperoni, parmesan, and fresh mozzarella on top.
So good...

Sorry about the photos. I got excited and ate some of the pizza before taking pictures! YES, it was that good! :)

Jerry loved it as well, so I'll be making this again in the future.!

Life Made Lovely & a Winner!

Goodmorning!

I'm having a lovely Monday because I had cinnamon rolls this morning, and because we had a lovely Easter yesterday!

It was our first Easter as a married couple. (Like how we kinda match and didn't mean to? ha)

It was also someone else's first time to get to hunt eggs...

She had sooo much fun!

Doesn't he look handsome? ...and so natural holding Bella ;)

She's so pretty.

Have a happy Monday!

Giveaway!!

I'm doing my very first GIVEAWAY!

I'm giving away one of these oh-so-cute coffee cozies!
I started making them and fell in love.
They are crocheted by me and are great to use on coffee cups, coke cans, and any other beverage.
My favorite part is the vintage mother-of-pearl buttons I used on them.

All you have to do to enter is become a follower of my blog, and then post a comment saying that you're a follower and what color you would pick if you won! (pomegranate, mustard, pink, OR purple)

I'm going to leave it open until Monday. That way whoever wins will get a nice little beginning of the week surprise! The winner will be chosen by random, and I'll post it then.

...and if you aren't the winner, you will be able to buy them shortly in my etsy shop! :)

Upcycled Lamp Shade

I'm so in love with the lamp shade that I upcycled to be a hanging light fixture!
Take a look!

Here's what it looks like with the lights off.

It's SUPER easy to make and my handsome hubby helped me hang it! I got the idea from this tutorial.

I think that ligting can be a really fun way to liven up a room, here's another one that I like:

Melt Down Cured With Ice Cream

So last night, I had a melt down. No, it was not a huge dramatic thing, but there were a few tears. Nobody ever said that this wife thing would be easy, and I never expected it to be. But, I did put unrealistic expectations on myself to do it perfectly. I felt like part of being a good wife was always keeping the house spotless, having the laundry done, the dishes put away, everything dusted, floors mopped, and the list goes on. I didn't realize how tough of a job this would be on top of graduate school and working part time.

The story goes that Jerry came home from work and I immediately start apologizing to him that the house is so dirty. He responds, "It's okay, I'll help you clean it." This statement starts the tears. I was feeling so guilty that my husband would have to say that after coming home from working all day long. I felt as though it was expected of me to have it done already. I felt as if I had failed. I feel silly even as I write this, because I realize now how wrong my expectations of myself as a wife were. Let's be real, our apartment isn't always spotless, the dishes aren't always done, and neither is the laundry. All of these things aren't why Jerry married me though. There are so many other things that I can contribute as a wife, like love, support and encouragement. It's hard to remember that though when you feel like these other things are staring you in the face.

Anyways, Jerry hugged and consoled me and then took me to get some ice cream. Cold Stone to be exact, my favorite! This helped a lot, as ice cream usually does. I have such an amazing husband who always affirms me in the areas that I need it, and for that I am thankful.

So I'm going to keep trying at keeping up with all of the household chores, but there's grace when I don't. Jerry doesn't expect me to be perfect, so I shouldn't expect myself to be either.

Another lesson learned from being a newlywed. Can any of you relate?

Life Made Lovely Monday

I spent Friday and Saturday of the weekend babysitting my nieces, Addi and Bella. "Life Made Lovely" is about enjoying the small things, the things that give life joy, the things you can't buy, the things that you can only live out and in the moment, the things that make you smile.

And this, this makes me smile. Seeing your niece sliding down a huge tunnel slide at Chick Fil A yelling, "I coming! I slide Linsee!" (this is how my name is pronouned), that can ONLY make you smile. Seeing her contagious laughter catch on to everyone around her.

And I just have to include the smushed nose picture!

Later, I sat and crocheted some new items, as I watched Bella sleep peacefully, making her sweet baby noises from time to time.

These girls bring so much light into my world. I love them and any chance that I get to spend with them.

We took a wagon ride the next day down to the park. If you've never pulled a toddler in a wagon, you're missing out! To see their little hair blowing in the wind as they drink their juice, being outside in the fresh air, it truly is lovely.

We had so much fun at the park. Running, sliding, climbing, swinging. Not a bad afternoon.

What makes your life lovely?
