We Had A Party

This little girl turned one yesterday! If you don't know already ;) this is my niece, Bella! We had her party at our house, and had such a good time with family.

We went with a girly vintage theme, with pink, pearls, flowers and lace abounding everywhere. So naturally this is what her cake looked like...

The table was very pretty, with lots of yummy food. We had chocolate covered strawberries, cherry gelatin salad, grapes, nectarines, cheese, meat, crackers and spinach artichoke dip.

Everyone ate off of my vintage plate collection.

And we had flowers in a lovely pitcher.

Everyone drank out of ball jars with striped straws.

We also had a candy table for the party favors.

There were lots of pretty little shabby chic details...

...and a little girl with a ruffled hiney.

And she smashed her cake!

Guest Post! {Vertical Heart Garland with Goodknits}

Goodmorning everyone and happy Monday!

I'm so excited about this guest post! Today we have Lisa with us from Goodknits and she's going to share with us a great Valentine's tutorial on how to make a "Vertical Heart Garland". Her blog is lovely and filled with great photos, tutorials and knitted/crocheted pretties. And you HAVE to check out her shop which has the most beautiful doily blankets I've ever seen!
So, to not waste any more time, here's Lisa!

Hello there! I'm Lisa and I blog at Goodknits. I like to share easy DIYs, patterns (knit & crochet!), recipes, and photos of my home and life with two kiddos. Things are always interesting with two little boys and a bunch of yarn!

Last week, I shared a 5-minute crochet heart pattern on my blog and today I am sharing a simple tutorial for turning them into a vertical garland. I hope you like it!

tut01

First, the "anatomy" of the 5-minute heart. The spaces at points a-d will be where you will be inserting your hook for the garland.

tut02

Step 1: Inset your hook into space a and pull a loop through.
Step 2: Insert your hook into space b and pull a loop through the heart and the loop on your hook.
Step 3: Insert your hook into space c and pull a loop through the heart and the loop on your hook.
Step 4: Insert your hook into the stitch at point d and pull a loop through the heart and the loop on your hook.
Step 5: Chain 1, over the top of your heart.

Chain 5 (or however long you would like the spaces between your hearts) and then insert your hook into space a on your next heart and pull a loop through. Repeat the steps for this heart and each subsequent heart on your garland. Mine is only 4 hearts, but you can certainly make a longer one! I've even used a single heart with a long chain to wrap a gift. It was SUPER sweet.

I hung my little garland in the window, today. The cool breeze had it swaying. Whatever you decide to do, have fun with it and be sure to stop by and show me your projects!

Christmas Decor

I'm linking up today over at Gussy's. Her prompt is Christmas decor, so here is some around our home...

some lovely tea towels hanging on our fridge (the one on the right is my fav! it's so Texas :)

our stockings hanging on our fireplace and some glass jars filled with pinecones. i love the knitted pattern on our stockings.

i wrapped some Christmas lights around a cluster of vintage medicine bottles that were on our mantle. they look so pretty all lit up.

and our tree, i love that we have so many meaningful ornaments mixed with a few red ones of the same kind (don't mind the tree skirt, the new pup likes to play with it)

the living room, with a few christmas pillows in the chair

i hung some ornaments from our chandelier with fishing line

and another tea towel on the oven!

Hope you enjoyed this little view of our holiday decor!

Anthropologie Inspired Snow Globes

Has anyone else seen these pretties at Anthropologie?

Well...I thought they were beautiful, and I decided to make some!
Anthro is selling them for $18 to $38, and I made them for about $4 each!! Great, huh?!

Here's my version...

You will need:
1. mason jars
2. Christmas decorations to go inside
3. white glitter
4. hot glue

First, you take the lids off of the mason jars and hot glue your Christmas decorations on the underside of the lids the way you want them.

Then, you pour your glitter into the jars.

Next, put a little bit of hot glue around the rim of the under side of the lids to secure it on the jar.

Screw your lids back on the jars and turn over to let the glitter sprinkle over your decorations!

Put out to enjoy!!

Wall Collage

We've been decorating and nesting our new little home and one of the most recent projects we did was a wall collage over our couch!

Here's how it turned out!

the "lindsey and jerry's" board was from a sign we had at our wedding and took apart for this keepsake

and we completed it with my bridal portrait, a cute "home sweet home" sign, a cross, my yarn initial, one of our engagement pictures, and a replica of our wedding invitation turned into a wall hanging!

i left a little spot in that left bottom corner for one of our fall photos we just took! :)
i'll be posting those beauties as soon as we get them!!

Yarn Wreath

While we have been moving the past couple of weeks, I made time for one craft ;)

I was dying to make a yarn wreath for the fall.

I decided to go with a carrot orange yarn, and used brown and cream felt for the flowers.

Here's how it turned out...

I LOVE IT!!

It's the perfect addition to our new little porch.

Now I just need a few pumpkins :)
